lets be honest. halloween is my favorite day of the year.
(even though Christmas is growing on me)
but i looooooooove halloween. i love dressing up, thinking of creative ideas being any person i want to be for the night.
i made sam a special halloween lunch when he got home from work. complete with a halloween table set up, popcorn and "monsters brains" aka spaghetti.
the spaghetti was the best i have ever made. i don't know if this is a common trick but i had never done it before. before i added the sauce i mixed the noodles with olive oil
(my tuscan cooking class instructor Duccio was a huge proponent for lots of olive oil and i absolutely subscribe to this school of thought) it was delish.
i also love being with my family and passing out candy to the endless trick or treaters that swarm to my parents house for the king size candy bars, skittles and mini-playdoughs.
this year was no exception. can you guess who sam is. sam must really love me because he never has dressed up for halloween since he was like 10. he knows how much i love H-Day and agreed to dress up.
in my opinion he had the best costume. Of COURSE we had to make him someone political and historical. do you know who he is? once you figure it out you will be amazed at the resemblance. (does the title of the post give you a clue?)
also check out the pumpkin sam. his work had a contest where everybody made pumpkin look a likes of each other. i think sams is tops!
i wasn't THAT cool this year - but i loved drawing on my thin little moustache to be an ar-teest.
we also had a vampire girl (halle), a mullet man (bart), h1n1 virus (AJ) the cutest bumblebee ever (alexa fae) a cowgirl (mom) a nerd with billy bob teeth (dad) and a skeleton (tyson) donald trump (tay tay) spartan and clark kent (tays friends).
fun story: my mom decided to be a cowgirl because she showed her horse down in burley this summer and won the grand prize. her reward was HUGE decorative belt buckle so she thought it would be funny to wear.
sam and i were a little late and when we walked in everybody cheered - sam DEF looked the best.
Alexa got to go trick or treating for the first time ever! Triston was sooo cute (as per usual) and we had a ball.
another great thing about this spooky day is the FOOD. Mom made chili, i brought yummy spaghetti. we had queso dip from chili's krispy kreme doughnuts, a veggie tray, cocomotion and pumpkin pie. we were stuffed! so fun!!
we watched the village at my parents house (my mom's absolute FAV movie) and sam kept scaring me during the movie. i still shreaked even though i knew it was coming.
to top off the halloween weekend sam and i watched nightmare before christmas (in my top ten all time favorite movies), sixth sense (the only scary movie I can handle) and hocus pocus! (bad acting, cheesy script and witches. priceless)
also: mucho happiness. congrats to scott and candace and ryan and meagan for their new halloween babies!!!
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Awesome Halloween. You and sam look so cute! i love all the costumes. and that food spread. holy cow YUM. wish i could've gone trick or treating at the Osbornes house. jeez.
